Assistance Centre for Usage, Billing and Setup
Usage, billing and setup questions are collected on this page — running several devices at once, recovering from a drop, checking a subscription and reading the node list across 2,200+ servers in 70+ countries.

Current platforms are Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Whether you use a Windows PC, a Mac, an Android phone or tablet, an iPhone or an iPad, the client installs directly.

Short answer:
Global mode: the whole computer routes its traffic through the proxy
On mobile:
Smart mode: preset site rules decide, and only the sites that need it are proxied
Global mode: all of your traffic goes through the proxy
On desktop:
Smart mode: preset site rules decide, and only the sites that need it are proxied

Short answer:
Network quality varies from one region to the next. Choose the line that matches the region you want to reach, whether that is a website or a game, and favour the lower latency option.

Short answer:
LightXtreme VPN places no ceiling on your data. Keep in mind that if your device has no internet connection of its own, no VPN app can work either.

Short answer:
Turn global mode off and return to smart mode.

LightXtreme VPN is built to be secure. The main safeguards are: 1. Encryption and protocol strength - Shadowsocks, Vless and WireGuard with AES-256-GCM and ChaCha20-Poly1305 protect data in transit, while tunnelling prevents interception or modification between your device and the server.
2. Anonymity - your address is replaced by a LightXtreme VPN IP, DNS requests stay inside the tunnel, and no activity logs are kept.
3. Censorship and monitoring - regional restrictions can be bypassed, your ISP only sees an encrypted connection to our server, and public Wi-Fi traffic stays encrypted.

Short answer:
1. Verify antivirus and firewall settings: security software sometimes blocks VPN connections, so try disabling it temporarily and reconnect. 2. Contact support: if the issue persists, start the app, go to My page and tap contact support, including a detailed description and screenshots so our technical team can assistance.

Short answer:
Verify that your real IP is hidden like this:
1. Note your current IP: before connecting, start a browser and search 'my IP address'. 2. Connect and check again: once connected, search 'my IP address' once more — if the address changed, your real IP is hidden. 3. Clear the cache: if it did not change, the browser may show a cached result. Clear the cache, restart the browser or try another one.

Short answer:
To be sure you get the genuine LightXtreme VPN, please use only these official channels:
1. Our official site: https://shanliank.com/
2. The official Google Play listing: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shanlian.pro
3. The official Apple App Store listing: https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6476379983?pt=127146343&ct=officialwebsite&mt=8
Please ignore any other site presenting itself as LightXtreme VPN. That software is not authorised by us: the quality is not guaranteed, privacy may leak, the app may not run at all, and your money is at risk.
Beyond that, our team keeps long-standing customers protected by reporting counterfeit copies on the app stores and having them removed.
You are also welcome to report look-alike apps to our official email ([email protected]).

Short answer:
The LightXtreme VPN settings page is broken down option by option below, including the entries that only appear on Windows and macOS.
1. The local DNS setting
⦁ Description: defines which DNS resolves domestic domains. Aligning it with your provider's DNS normally makes local sites open faster and more reliably.
⦁ Recommended when other local services on the LAN cannot be reached: set local DNS to 'local' so devices resolve local addresses first and outside DNS does not interfere.
2. The remote DNS setting.
⦁ Description: sets the DNS resolver for international domains such as Google. An international resolver (Google DNS or Cloudflare) usually improves connection throughput and resolution efficiency.
⦁ Recommended when you visit international sites often: remote DNS improves both throughput and stability.
3. New protocol
⦁ Description: enables or disables the newer encryption protocol (such as VLESS) for stronger security and more steady connections.
⦁ Recommended: keep the new protocol enabled for the privacy benefit, and disable it only when connections behave strangely or fail.
4. Hang up all connections on every switch
⦁ Description: ends the current connection the moment you change server, so nothing keeps travelling over the previous IP and each session takes a new address.
⦁ Recommended: keep it on, so every server change refreshes your IP and your privacy stays protected.
5. Enable IPv6
⦁ Description: selects the protocol DNS uses for lookups — off resolves IPv4 only, on resolves IPv4 and IPv6 together.
⦁ Recommended: switch it on where IPv6 is supported for quicker access, and switch it off where the network is unstable or restricted.
6. Getting back to China in one tap
⦁ Description: gives users outside the country access to Chinese content such as Youku, iQIYI and Tencent Video.
⦁ Recommended when Chinese sites are restricted abroad: switch it on to pass the regional limits and improve the viewing experience.
7. BT downloads through the proxy
⦁ Description: proxies BT downloads, encrypting the P2P traffic and getting around network restrictions.
⦁ Recommended: switch it on for BT over restricted networks, or whenever your downloads should stay private.
8. Direct-link domains
⦁ Description: the domains listed here skip the VPN and connect directly, which suits common local domains that do not need proxying.
⦁ Recommended: put your everyday sites, banks and payment pages on the direct list so they load faster and stay safer.
9. Choosing which apps are proxied
⦁ Description: lets specific applications link directly without the VPN, which suits lighter usage.
⦁ Recommended: add local or non-proxied apps to the list to save data and throughput up connections.
10. Settings unique to Windows
TUN mode
⦁ Description: moves all system traffic through the VPN by means of a virtual network adapter, which improves security and leak protection.
⦁ Recommended: useful for strict privacy needs or on public networks, although it consumes more system resources.
Proxy mode
⦁ Description: covers only the apps or browsers you select and sends part of the traffic via the proxy server instead of everything.
⦁ Recommended: handy if you only need to throughput up or protect one browser, with less overhead while still keeping some privacy.
11. Settings unique to macOS
On M-series Macs the VPN can be enabled through a system extension. Running that way disables per-application proxying, since the extension cannot detect which application produced the traffic.

Short answer:
1. When is a local DNS change needed?
If other services on the LAN cannot be reached, set local DNS to 'local' so devices resolve local addresses first and access problems stay away.
2. When should the new protocol be changed?
As a rule the new protocol stays on, since it strengthens security and privacy; should connections turn unstable, try switching it off.
3. Proxy mode or TUN mode for Windows users?
If the network fails once TUN mode is enabled on Windows, return to proxy mode: it applies only to the apps or browsers you select, costs fewer resources and still carries the traffic you need through the VPN.
Together these options let you tune throughput, privacy and stability for whatever network you are on.

Short answer:
360 Security may treat LightXtreme VPN as risky and remove it on its own. That is a misjudgement — the software is certified and carries an international security certificate.
Place LightXtreme VPN on the 360 whitelist so it keeps running normally:
1. Open up 360 Security;
2. Pick Trojan detection from the main menu;
3. Open the Trusted Zone panel on the right-hand side;
4. Click Add file, pick LightXtreme VPN and start it;
5. Tick the box that confirms it;
6. Confirm with OK;
Note: the Trusted Zone sits elsewhere in some 360 Security versions, although the sequence of steps is identical.
LightXtreme VPN is updated regularly in order to follow network policies as they shift across countries. Each new build replaces the previous one and resets the whitelist, so re-add the entry after updating and everything keeps running.

Short answer:
1. Start the LightXtreme VPN app, go to My > VPN settings and turn off TUN mode in the proxy settings. Then return to the home screen, tap Enable and connect.
2. If it carries on, remove LightXtreme VPN, fetch it again from the official website and attempt the connection one more time.
Should the issue remain, open My > Support inside the app and our team will assist you there.

Short answer:
1. Start LightXtreme VPN and confirm your network connection works.
2. Navigate to My > Settings > VPN settings > Proxy settings and enable TUN mode.
3. Head back to the main screen, disconnect, and restart the application.

Short answer:
1. Update LightXtreme VPN to the most recent release, reinstalling it if that is simpler, then connect again.
2. If it still drops with TUN mode, start your computer's network connections and look for a virtual adapter named 'tun0' or 'LightXtreme VPN'. If it is missing, reset the network and restart the computer, then turn LightXtreme VPN on again with TUN mode selected.
If neither step works, tap Support on the My page of the app and we will take it from there.

The cause is a mainland China Apple ID. Since the product is not on the mainland store, the store returns 'item ID not found'.
Switch your App Store country to Hong Kong or another supported region, or use the shared Apple ID we publish, then purchase again.

App Store availability differs by region, and the app is not offered everywhere.
Change your Apple ID country to Hong Kong or create a new Hong Kong account; you can also sign in with the public Apple ID we provide.

When images do not show and messages fail, check the network first: 5G and Wi-Fi signals fluctuate everywhere, and repeated handovers stop content from loading.
Try another line, or connect to a more stable Wi-Fi network.

The behaviour comes from defects in the iOS 16 network stack.
Reset the network: Settings - General - Transfer or Reset iPhone - Reset - Reset Network Settings, then try connecting again.

The message usually relates to the Apple ID region. Check whether your account is based in mainland China, or whether you have just switched region and the change has not propagated yet.
Sign out and download again with a Hong Kong Apple ID.

The error appears when installation and updating used different Apple IDs - installed with A, upgraded with B.
Delete the app and reinstall it using one and the same Apple ID.

It is normally a conflict between a leftover old build and the store version.
Uninstall the old copy, then download the latest one.

It is usually a version conflict caused by a leftover old build, not a real withdrawal.
Uninstall the old copy and download the latest version.

The prompt is generally triggered by a leftover old build conflicting with the store version.
Remove the old version and download the current one.

The message means the Apple ID used for updating differs from the one used at install time.
Either sign back in with the original Apple ID and update, or uninstall and reinstall under your current ID, keeping a note of your credentials beforehand.

1. Check that the app is installed under Applications; if not, move it there and sign in again before connecting.
2. Open a page in Safari to compare. Should Safari behave normally, the culprit is likely a proxy or ad-blocking add-on in the other browser - switch it off.

Short answer:
Head to your phone settings or device manager and allow LightXtreme VPN to stay in the background, granting permissions such as auto-start and running alongside other apps.

Short answer:
Start Smart Manager > App management, tap Manage auto start-up and set LightXtreme VPN to Allow background running;
Reason: a system default is usually behind this. Android stops background apps by default, so LightXtreme VPN may be terminated after a while and the connection drops. Adjusting these settings resolves it:
